- RESEARCH -
It’s so important to really see the user’s needs and goals for the website. I decided to make a list so I could visually see what problems to tackle. Meeting the user’s needs is crucial for the success of designyourwall.com
- increase sales, especially in digital items - user friendly site - organize products - inspiration for designers
- a no-fuss website - need resources: articles, show ideas, give suggestions, help visualize what they are looking for
To further develop our users’ needs, I developed a survey. Based on the results, we found that 60% of our consumers are repeat customers. From this knowledge, I wanted to highlight the ease and user experience of the site. Few things I wanted to focus on were the checkout, clear and clean category and product pages, enhancing the custom wallpaper capability and devloping a blog. In addition to selling thousands of patterns. Designyourwall.com wants to be a source to provide home decor tips, how to install wallpaper and customer reviews.
Creating sitemaps and wireframes were key to develop a clean layout.

The new designyourwall.com has a newly branded design that is available on multi-platforms. A key item in the design was that each page is consistent and representing the overall brand.
Al Dente Pasta
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet CEO of Al Dente Pasta Company, Monique Deschaine. She is looking for a redesign for her pasta brand, Al Dente Pasta Company. After meeting Monique, her vibrant and energetic personality was so contagious and I wanted the user to get the same feeling of her brand without even meeting her.
I focused on phonetics of the phrase “al dente” and the movement and vibrancy similar to Monique’s personality by visually representing with elevating the e.
With this design, I created powerful combinations of cues to help the brand stand out. I wanted to capture the meaning of the brand name and infusing the design with energy. I wanted the typography to look like it was just starting to boil. Including original hand-drawn illustrations would be the best representation of capturing the energy.
A new problem I had to solve was designing a poster for cooking demos. With this task, I wanted to showcase the variety of flavors in the product line by taking the illustrations and showcasing the variety and including an upbeat pattern. The poster turned out to be a great success and the client loved the variety of colors and thought the poster was eye-catching.
It was very important to me for Al Dente to have a cohesive look and feel brand, which was lacking in the original designs. I made a deliberate choice to elevate the e in demos to carry on the brand consistency.
